History of Football

Association football, also called football or simply soccer, is a football-themed team sport played between two competing teams of eleven players each. It is played professionally by about 250 million people in more than 200 countries and colonies, making it by far the most popular sport in the world. The sport itself was created in Germany, but it quickly spread to the rest of Europe, Australia, and North America. It has even developed nations such as the Philippines, Brazil, and South Africa.

To play, teams take turns passing the ball from one player to the other on a narrow field. The object of the game is for the ball to get as close to the goal line as possible without the ball touching any of the players' bodies or kicking off any part of the field. The object is also to score as many points as possible during the match. Each team has only fifteen minutes per game, so matches are often longer than regular matches. A standard soccer game is played with three on the field; the defense tries to prevent the opponents from gaining access to the ball and the attacking team tries to make the ball go through the goal. This is necessary because if the keeper's foot is on the ball before it is struck, the keeper can touch the ball with any part of his foot, thereby preventing the opposing team from getting a goal.

Today, many schools in the United States have taken up the sport of football. The American Football Association has been playing the sport for about thirty years, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association has been playing since Division I. The reason for this is that many people in the United States do not think football is a real sport, especially when young. However, as adults and children continue to play this interesting sport, many more people will realize what an amazing sport it is.

Football is not just for grown ups, as it is for many people in the United States. It should be played not only by grown ups but also by little kids who love soccer. As the sport becomes more developed, it could be played by both grown ups and little kids.
