Goal post position is a very important position to take into account when training football skills and tactics. It is the position below the kicker, where the kick is delivered to. Kickers usually rely on their strength, while field goal posts rely on height and the ability to stop kicks. For example, if a team is using a longer kick in order to send it to the goal post, the defenders will need to be able to reach the ball first before the kick goes into the goal post. This position has to be comfortable in anticipation of the kick coming, while also being prepared to block the kick if it does hit the post.
